"BEYOND BORDERS" on ERT2

The short film about the 3rd International Documentary Festival in Castellorizo "Beyond Borders" will be shown on Sunday,  November 4, at 11:30 a.m. on ERT 2.

The 3rd International Documentary Festival in Castellorizo "Beyond Borders" set sail again this year for the bright blue waters of Lykia, in order to "bring the world to Castellorizo and take Castellorizo to the world!". For the third consecutive year, the Hellenic History Foundation (IDISME) travelled to Castellorizo and organized the 3rd Documentary Festival "Beyond Borders" from August 26 to September 2. The goal of the Festival is for the island to become a focal point for creators of history and socio-political documentaries, as well as for people of the arts and letters. Taking place at a crucial point between East and West, very close to the coasts of Lykia, the Festival aims to turn the island into a centre of reference for further cultural collaborations between Castellorizo and Antifello (Kas).

"Beyond Borders", being an international competition, presents "Best Documentary" awards every year, with the kind support of the Hellenic Parliament and is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Municipality of Megisti. This year, the program included several Greek and foreign documentaries such as "Borders Souls" by Takis Bardakos, "Kalimera from Beirut" by George Eid, and "Living with Walls" by Sherif Fathy Salem among many others.

"Beyond Borders" is not limited to the screenings, since it includes several cultural events and activities. An art exhibition by Christos Bokoros, a sculpture exhibition by Alexandros Zygouris, dance events, the formation of hiking trails by the Naturalist Movement of Vrilissos, diving lessons for children by professional instructor Roberto Calich, cinematography lessons for children and adults, a music concert by the string trio of Rhodes, theatrical plays and much more. Furthermore, in the context of "Beyond Borders" an international discussion panel was held, under the title "Fake News and News Reporting". The participants were Irini Sarioglou, art director of the Festival, Jo Fox from the Institute of Historical Research, University of London, Razia Iqbal, journalist for BBC and others.
