The presentation of the history documentary "The Silent School”, which was organized by the Hellenic History Foundation (H.H.F.) was also crowned with success. It took place at the Athens Concert Hall, on Monday, April 4 2011. The packed "Aleksandra Triandi" hall showed the strong interest of the Athenian public in the long history of this great institution, the Halki Seminary.
The evening was hosted by ERA journalist Maria Kozakou. The book "Turkish policy towards Greek education in Istanbul 1923-1974" was also presented at the event.
After a brief reference to the objectives and the activities of H.H.F., by the Foundation’s researcher Mrs Eleni Bakatsi, the evening continued with the main speaker - the Historian, current Director of the Office of Political Affairs of Thrace and former General Consul in Istanbul, Ambassador Alexis Alexandris. The first part of the event was closed by historian Irini Sarioglou who told of her personal experiences that guided the research of her PhD thesis and also the implementation of the documentary "The Silent School”.
The evening was honoured by the presence of the Archbishop Ieronimos II of Athens and all Greece, parliamentarians, the President and members of Theological School of Halki's Graduate's Society "Estia Theologwn Halkis", Ambassadors, Diplomatic Advisors, representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and many graduates of the Halki Seminary.
